How a fitting goes in.
Position and count
Placement follows the length, depth and viewing direction of the pool. A badly placed fitting lights the eye instead of the water.
Choosing the fitting
Flush or surface-mounted, single colour or RGB, and the wattage. On an existing pool the niche dimensions largely decide it.
Cabling
Cable is pulled through conduit to the plant room. No joints are made inside the pool; the joint is always out of the water.
Transformer and board
The low-voltage transformer and protective devices sit in the board. Residual-current protection is not a preference on pool lighting; it is a requirement.
Sealing
Niche, gasket and cable entry are checked for water tightness. Skip this step and the problem surfaces months later.
Commissioning
Earthing is measured, the colour scene is set, and the control is handed over.
What never changes in pool lighting.
Brands change; these three do not. It is worth checking whether a quote states them in writing.

In-pool lighting does not run on mains voltage. The transformer sits in the board, outside the water zone.

Common questions.
Can lighting be added to my existing pool?
On most pools yes, but how depends on the structure. Where a niche already exists the job is limited to the fitting and the cabling. Without one, work is needed in the lining and the concrete wall, and surface-mounted fittings are often the more sensible answer. We say which is possible at the site visit.
Does the pool have to be drained?
For a fitting replacement it is usually enough to drop the level below the niche rather than drain the pool. Draining comes up when a new niche is cut or the lining has to be opened.
How many fittings are needed?
Length, width and depth decide it. The usual approach is even spacing along the long side, facing away from where people look, so the light fills the water without glare. We work the number out from the dimensions rather than quoting a standard figure.
Can RGB be retrofitted?
If the fitting is being replaced, yes. But the control and the driver change too, so moving from single-colour to RGB is not simply swapping a lamp. On a new pool, choosing RGB from the start is both cheaper and cleaner.
How long does an LED fitting last?
The LED module itself is long-lived; in pool lighting most failures come from the driver, a cable joint or an ageing gasket. That is why sealing and joint placement matter more at installation than the brand of the fitting.
Is lighting part of pool construction?
On a new pool, lighting is planned as part of the build — niches are set during the concrete stage. On an existing pool it runs as an independent job.
